Overly restrictive legislation

Legislative provisions that are overly restrictive including those that limit research and development or prevent them from bringing new products to market. Examples include: 

  • Overly prescriptive legislation that doesn’t allow regulations to be flexible for research and development purposes or introduction of new products; or   
  • Restricting how compliance can be demonstrated, such as specifying one test method to be used even though other equivalent or newer tests are available.
